Mr. D
I am a proud product of the A.U.H.S.D. as I graduated from Western High School in 1996. I went directly on to Chapman University, where I graduated in 2000 by earning my Bachelor’s of Arts Degree. After receiving my teaching credential in 2002, I continued at Chapman by earning my Master's Degree in 2004.
I started my teaching career at Katella High School as a long-term substitute teacher. There I taught English, math, World History, AVID & Puente. I have taught here at Gilbert High School since the beginning of the 2002-2003 school year. Both principals at the time, Marsha Wagner and Bill Talty, gave me the opportunity to teach English Language Development (ELD). Since then, I’ve taught ELD (Beginning & Intermediate), ELD Communications & English (Grades 9, 10, 11 & 12), APEX & ASB/Student Leadership.
I have really enjoyed my time here at Gilbert. Although we’re not as large as some of the other high schools in the district, we still find time to put on some fascinating activities. My first year here, I won the eating contest and have done so 4 more times (I am the only 5X Champ!).
Currently, I am the faculty advisor for ASB and RSVP.
